La educación médica al personal y la familia sobre prevención
son fundamentales. Los niños no deben ser fumadores pasi-
vos. Y el lavado de manos luego del contacto con el paciente
debe ser una conducta obligatoria y rutinaria
(46,56,57)
. El uso de
Palivizumab, está ampliamente recomendado como anticuer-
po monoclonal dirigido contra las glicoproteínas de la super-
ficie del VRS, específicamente contra el epítope A de la glico-
proteína F del VRS. La vía de administración es intramuscular,
y la dosis recomendada es 15 mg/kg. Se recomiendan cinco
dosis totales, a los 0, 1, 2, 3 y 4 meses. No debe ser utilizado
en infección aguda, pero un episodio previo de bronquiolitis
no contraindica su uso. Las indicaciones actuales para su
uso son pacientes menores de 24 meses con enfermedad
pulmonar crónica o cardiopatía congénita, antecedente de
prematurez menor de 32 semanas, o aquel prematuro entre
las 32 y 35 semanas de edad gestacional que convivan con un
menor de 5 años o asistan a jardín infantil
